primera soccer care guide

PUMP IT RIGHT. PLAY IT RIGHT.

A rock-hard ball doesn't make you a harder player.

Getting the pressure right helps your ball perform as intended, feel right on the foot and maintain its shape.

Here's how to get it right:

  • Check the pressure. Always follow the recommended inflation pressure printed on your ball.

  • Wet the needle. Moisten your inflation needle with water before inserting it to help protect the valve.

  • Take it slow. Insert the needle straight into the valve and inflate gradually using a suitable ball pump.

  • Use a pressure gauge. Don't guess by squeezing the ball. Check the pressure as you pump.

  • Don't overdo it. Too much pressure can put unnecessary strain on the ball's panels, seams and bladder.

MUD HAPPENS. KEEP IT CLEAN.

A dirty ball shows character. A neglected ball is another story.

Your ball doesn't need a spa day after every session, but a quick clean helps keep it in good condition.

  • Wipe away dirt, grass and mud with a soft, damp cloth.

  • For stubborn marks, use a little mild soap and water.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, abrasive brushes and aggressive scrubbing.

  • Don't leave your ball soaking in water or dunk it in a bucket.

  • Pay attention to the valve area and remove any dirt that could interfere with inflation.

DRY IT OUT. DON'T COOK IT.

Your ball loves the pitch. It doesn't love being baked.

Once training is done, give your ball a chance to dry properly before putting it away.

  • Wipe away excess moisture with a clean cloth.

  • Allow the ball to air-dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.

  • Keep it out of direct sunlight while drying.

  • Never use a heater, hair dryer or other direct heat source to speed things up.

  • Avoid packing wet balls tightly into a closed bag for extended periods.

GIVE IT A GOOD HOME.

Every champion needs a place to rest.

Where you store your ball between sessions can make a difference to how well it holds up over time.

  • Store it somewhere cool, dry and well ventilated.

  • Keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

  • Don't leave it in a hot car, shed or exposed outdoor area for long periods.

  • Avoid storing it while wet or dirty.

  • For extended periods out of use, slightly reduce the pressure and follow any storage instructions supplied with your ball.

PUMP IT UP (THE RIGHT WAY)
  • Get precise: Always check the recommended bar/PSI pressure printed right around the valve on your Primera ball.

  • Lubricate the needle: Shoving a dry needle into the valve tears up the rubber. Always lube your needle with a drop of glycerin or valve oil before pumping.

  • Ditch the electric compressor: Unless you like buying new balls every week, avoid high-pressure garage compressors. Stick to a reliable hand pump with a pressure gauge.

RESPECT THE SURFACE.

Not every pitch is created equal.

From perfectly manicured grass to artificial turf, the playing surface affects the wear your ball experiences.

  • Use your ball on the surfaces it was designed for.

  • Grass and suitable artificial turf are generally kinder to footballs than rough, abrasive surfaces.

  • Avoid repeated use on concrete, bitumen or gravel unless your ball is specifically designed for those conditions.

  • Keep sharp objects and rough edges away from the ball.

BEFORE YOU KICK OFF.

A quick check can save a match-day headache.

Before heading out to training or your next big game:

  • Check the pressure.

  • Make sure the ball holds its shape.

  • Look for visible damage to the panels, seams or valve.

  • Remove any excess dirt or moisture.

  • Make sure the ball is suitable for the session and playing surface.

If you notice unusual air loss, a damaged valve, splitting seams or changes to the ball's shape, stop using it until you've checked what's wrong.
